Street Sweeping Information
Parking is restricted on Brea public streets to accommodate the weekly street sweeping which occurs sometime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m throughout each residential tract. Signs are posted at the entrances into neighborhoods indicating which day of the week and a two-hour time period in which sweeping has been scheduled for that particular area.
The following is a list of holidays where there will not be street sweeping operations. Thus, no street sweeping citations will be issued on these days:
- Martin Luther King Day
- President’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
There also will be no sweeping during the week-long period between the Christmas and New Years holidays.
To facilitate effective sweeping, all parked vehicles must be relocated during the street sweeping operation, even those displaying overnight or temporary parking permits. A citation can be issued to any vehicles that might remain parked on streets in violation of posted restrictions. Once the sweeper and its enforcement vehicle pass through, cars may again be returned to on-street parking spots.
Those with an unusual, temporary situation preventing compliance with street sweeping restrictions are advised to notify the Brea Police Dispatch center by calling 714-990-7911 at least 24 hours in advance. No citations will be issued to those who are listed for that following day. This courtesy may be used on a short-term basis, such as during a construction project, or for a delivery or maintenance service. It is not acceptable as a routine to avoid sweeping service.
For a longer term or unusual situation, there is an exemption process.
Cooperation is appreciated in the effort to enhance neighborhood cleanliness. For questions about street sweeping, please call 714 990-7691.
